President Donald Trump ripped the “coward” police officer who refused to do his job at the Parkland, Flordia shooting on Friday.
Scot Peterson, the police officer assigned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School resigned Thursday and is currently under investigation for failing to enter the building as a gunman opened fire. Video footage showed proof that he did not do his job.
Sheriff Scott Israel said Deputy Peterson should have “went in. Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.” He also said that the cop was outside the building for “upwards of four minutes” while students were gunned down inside.
“When it came time to get in there and do something, he didn’t have the courage, or something happened. He certainly did a poor job. That’s the case where somebody was outside, they are trained, they didn’t react properly under pressure or they were a coward.
I’d rather have somebody that loves their students and wants to protect their students then somebody standing outside that doesn’t know anybody and doesn’t know the students, and frankly, for whatever reason, decided not to go in, even though he heard lots of shots being fired inside.”
