NRA Boycott Infuriates Customers

The alt-left wing of the Democratic Party, the Progressives, are on the attack against the National Rifle Association (NRA) in the wake of the Parkland, Florida school shooting using scare tactics and social media threats designed to paint U.S. corporations as accomplices to murder. Several businesses have succumbed to the hate-filled propaganda spewed by the liberal mouthpieces.

And now these companies; Alamo, National, and Enterprise car rental, Delta and United Airlines (among others), have severed ties with the NRA. Of course, this enraged millions of conservatives—the consumers most likely to have the financial means to travel.  To what end? To be trendy with Progressives?

The NRA has a membership base of five million loyal Americans, but their reach is much more impressive.  A 2017 Pew Research Center report found that more than 14 million Americans consider themselves NRA members, and align themselves ideologically with the organization.

The so-called Progressives and the businesses buying into their ideology must have skipped class when Newton’s Third Law of Physics was explained; For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  But they’re learning it now in the school of hard knocks, and you can check out a few Tweetimonials of angry NRA consumers here.

Of course, several celebrities and pseudo-celebs have jumped on the boycott bandwagon, but in the wake of the sexual harassment scandals, they’re all but irrelevant insomuch that even the leftist media isn’t printing their names or ridiculous accusations.

One of the few and the brave – a politician no less – Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle (R-GA), has promised to throw more than just shade at Delta Airlines, whose home base is Atlanta.  He warned the airline in a Twitter tirade. “I will kill any tax legislation that benefits Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with NRA. Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back.”

Delta’s knee-jerk reaction was ill-timed, as they were close to convincing lawmakers to restore a lucrative sales tax exemption on jet fuel.  Oops. There’s that Newton fellow again, popping up with an immediate reaction.  Having shot themselves in the financial foot, Delta had the nerve to weakly claim the severing of relations with the NRA “merely confirmed its neutral status” in the battle of the heated gun control debate.  Oh, silly Delta, your slithering attempt to justify what you have done flies in the face of taking a stand in the first place.  Way to stand by your ideals.

The NRA seems less alarmed by the boycotts than their support base, and have responded with a civil, yet firm rebuttal:

“Since the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, a number of companies have decided to sever their relationship with the NRA, in an effort to punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, nurses, shop owners and school teachers that live in every American community. We are men and women who represent every American ethnic group, every one of the world’s religions and every form of political commitment.”

“Let it be absolutely clear. The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.”

No one rents a car for the NRA discount.  No one.  But those who want to protect the freedoms this country provides will put their expendable money where their mouth is; the rush to join the NRA is just beginning.

One thing is abundantly clear in the mass hysteria following the Parkland school shooting; Progressives will use the deaths of 17 people as a political two-by-four to bludgeon those who disagree with their agenda.  But a warning to those who are easily swayed through campaigns of terror and momentary good or bad publicity: In America, the consumer is still king.  And 14 million consumers are loyal to the NRA and their defense of the Second Amendment.
