On Monday, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) became the second House Republican to file articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, following Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene’s (R-GA) impeachment resolution last month. In addition to Biden, Ogles has also called for the impeachment of Vice President Kamala Harris, while Greene has called to remove Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves.
Currently, House GOP leadership has shown no indication that they plan on moving forward with any impeachment proceedings – at least at the moment. However, the allegations levied by Greene and Ogles nonetheless provide a useful synopsis of the many derelictions of duty by Biden and his top lieutenants, and could become a powerful messaging tool for Republicans heading into the 2024 election cycle.
