Around 75% Of Violent Crime Arrests In Midtown Manhattan Are Suspected Illegal Immigrants: Report

Three out of every four people arrested for crimes such as assault, domestic violence, and robbery in Midtown Manhattan are suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, police sources told The New York Post.

The Post reported that New York Police Department officers are working at a disadvantage when they arrest suspected illegal immigrants as the Big Apple’s “sanctuary city” laws do not allow for cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Police sources in Queens estimate that more than 60% of those arrested for assault, domestic violence, and robbery are suspected illegal immigrants.

“New York City eliminated a tool to get rid of violent criminals. What a mess,” former prosecutor at the Queens District Attorney’s office Jim Quinn told The Post. “The sanctuary city law is pathetic. It’s disgusting. It’s crazy.”
