Taylor Lorenz, a high profile technology reporter known for scolding strangers about COVID compliance, will no longer be working for Vox Media after the company decided not to renew her contract, Semafor reported Sunday.
Lorenz’s contract was set to expire at the end of the year, according to Semafor. Vox had signed a deal to license her podcast and YouTube show in February, but the struggling media conglomerate chose not to renew it for 2025.
Lorenz, a perennial lightning rod for media controversy, was again at the center of scrutiny last week after making disparaging comments about slain UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“And people wonder why we want these executives dead,” Lorenz tweeted in a now-deleted post about another insurer, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, issuing a policy to deny claims for certain anesthesia procedures. The company retracted the change in policy following a public outcry.
