As she certified the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris was forced to listen to the results of her loss Monday in front of her fellow Democrats in Congress.
Congress convened Monday to certify the election results by its deadline, Jan. 6, 2025. The members of Congress voted to certify the election with no objections raised and Harris presided over the day as it is a role of the vice president’s office. Monday’s electoral college vote was 312-226. Before certifying the election, Harris listened to the election results of every state, including those she lost to Trump. The now president-elect defeated Harris in a landslide, taking all of the swing states. North Carolina and Georgia were the first two swing states called, erasing the Sun Belt path to victory for Harris by 11 p.m.
