The National Sheriff’s Association urged the Senate on Monday to quickly confirm Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, saying she had the organization’s complete endorsement.
In a letter to Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), National Sheriff’s Association President Kieran Donahue, a sheriff from Idaho, wrote that the Senate should “expeditiously” move to confirm Gabbard, saying her confirmation was needed to increase trust between local law enforcement and the intelligence community. The association represents more than 3,000 sheriffs across the country.
“Ms. Gabbard has demonstrated a commitment to addressing the critical disconnect between our intelligence agencies and local law enforcement in preparing for sophisticated and pervasive threats,” Donahue wrote to Cotton, who heads up the Select Committee on Intelligence.
