As camera’s panned out from the podium that President Donald Trump gave his speech to a joint session of Congress from, the wideshot of the House Chamber served as a perfect illustration of the dichotomy of America’s political landscape. The stark juxtaposition of Democrats ironically sat to Trump’s right and the Republicans situated to his left was evident each time the President delivered the key points from his address. While Republicans rose to celebrate the ascendancy Trump proclaimed America has been thrust into by his second administration, the scenes across the aisle from them appeared more akin to a funeral.
