The CEO of an electric bus manufacturer that filed for bankruptcy over the summer continues to be a top member of the White House trade council that President Joe Biden relies on for advice on international trade.
Gareth Joyce, the CEO of Proterra, is among 27 people listed by the ITA as council members. He has retained his seat on the President’s Export Council despite his company (which received millions in federal aid) filing for bankruptcy in August.
Under the International Trade Administration, the group “advises the President of government policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance; promotes export expansion; and provides a forum for discussing and resolving trade-related problems among the business, industrial, agricultural, labor, and government sectors.”
The ITA did not provide comment to the Washington Examiner regarding Joyce’s status on the council. However, he remains listed on the website.
