President Joe Biden demanded over the weekend that an audience at the White House clap during remarks that he made while speaking on St. Patrick’s Day.
Biden’s Sunday remarks came as he spoke alongside Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar while he celebrated the history of Irish people in America.
“We celebrate the bonds of our friendship today connecting millions of Irish Americans and American people,” Biden said. “We celebrate the friendship between the two nations — one that has shaped our past, strengthened our present and inspires our future.”
Biden said that the two countries celebrated 100 years of diplomatic ties this year, the economic ties between the two nations continue to deepen, and that they share similar values.
